Julio Macias Gonzalez, a 17-year-old from Mexico City, raised alarm among his family when he began convulsing in the dinner table.
It‘s thought his girlfriend gave him a hickey earlier that evening which caused a blood clot that traveled to the teen’s brain.
Paramedics were called to the scene but Julio Couldn‘t be saved and died shortly after.
It‘s believed the suction from the love bite was the reason for the clot which traveled to his brain, triggering a stroke.
The young man’s family are blaming his 24-year-old girlfriend for their death but she‘s now disappeared.
It isn‘t the very first time a love bite is believed to possess triggered a reaction.
In 2011 a 44-year-old woman in New Zealand lost movement in her own left arm after owning a stroke.
On noticing a faded love bite, doctors quickly realized damage to a major artery in her own neck and linked it to her paralysis.
The suction had caused a blood clot to form which then traveled towards the woman’s heart, causing a stroke.
Dr Teddy Wu, who treated the woman at Auckland’s Middlemore Hospital, said : “To my knowledge, it’s the very first time someone is hospitalized using a hickey. ”
Adore bites or hickeys are caused by somebody sucking with an area of another person’s skin, more commonly the neck.
The suction causes blood vessels under the skin to burst which causes bruising that can last up to 2 weeks.
Apart from the risks of blood clots and fatal strokes, hickeys can cause swelling and this can be treated with an ice-pack.
Often people hide the bruises under make-up, scarfs or polo neck sweaters.
